Privacy Policy

Slap or Slop is designed to work without accounts and without collecting personal profiles. This page explains exactly what data the site touches, why, and which third parties are involved.

What we collect

• An anonymous session cookie. When you vote, we set a signed, HTTP-only cookie containing a random identifier. It exists so that each person gets one vote per track. It is not linked to your name, email, or any account — we don't have those.
• Votes. Each vote stores the track, the verdict (SLAP or SLOP), a timestamp, and the anonymous identifier above.
• Hashed network data for abuse prevention. To detect vote flooding, we store a salted, one-way hash of your IP address alongside votes. The raw IP address is never stored, and the hash cannot be reversed into it.

What we don't collect

No names, no email addresses, no accounts, no precise location, no cross-site tracking of our own. If we add account features later, this policy will be updated first.

Embedded music players

Tracks play through embedded players from Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud, and YouTube. When a player loads, your browser communicates directly with that provider, which may set its own cookies and collect data under its own policy: see the privacy policies of Spotify, Apple, SoundCloud, and Google (YouTube).

Advertising

We use Google AdSense to serve ads. Google and its partners use cookies (including, where permitted, personalized advertising cookies) to serve and measure ads based on your visits to this and other sites. Key points:

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

Visitors in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland are shown a consent dialog before any advertising cookies are set, as required by Google's EU User Consent Policy.

Data retention

Vote records and abuse-prevention hashes are retained for as long as they are needed to keep leaderboards accurate and the voting fair. The anonymous session cookie persists in your browser until you clear it; clearing it simply means the site can no longer connect you to your previous votes.

Changes

If this policy changes, the effective date above will be updated. If a change is material — for example, adding accounts — we'll note it prominently on the site.
